so basically, i'm about to recount an incredible weekend and i just thought i'd warn you that i might fail in doing it justice.
hae jung and i took a random road trip to berekely at 2:00am saturday morning to visit our amazing friend caroline, because we are just that ridiculous. what ensued can only be described as an insanely sleep-deprived adventure as we gallivanted about the bay area.

the partners-in-crime (DUB.)

here's the breakdown: after driving on the sketchy-sketch five freeway in the dark and doing chinese fire drills at questionable rest stops and finding everything completely hilarious (scooping the licorice?), hae jung and i arrived in b-town to find caroline in her pj's, ready to conjure up some tea and chocolate chip pancakes for us. hae jung, zeke the zebra and i then met caroline's incredible friends and took the bart (<3!) to san fran to experience haight & ashbury, where we crepe-d it up and perused amoeba. later we made our way to north beach for dinner, which included a lap dance from a "big piece of italian man" and free tiramisu on my face. that night we crashed a 90s dance party where we completely took over the playlist and stole ice cream out of the freezer and had jsa flashbacks as we giggled and somersaulted down the apartment building hallway while dressed as characters from clueless/wayne's world.

sunday began with thai temple! followed by an outstanding trip to the flea market where we found the labyrinth on vhs for two dollars, and later had a showing of it in order to incorporate appreciation of the bowie bulge into our friendship. caroline also gave us a fabulous tour of the campus so that i could see sproul hall and pretend as though i were part of the free speech movement. the three of us stayed up way too late talking/musicing and then woke up far too early to make the trip back to la.

(damn, that shot is so well-framed.)

sidenote: while our time spent in berekeley was fabulous, i'm not gonna lie; the highlight of the weekend had to be our stop on the way back home at coalinga canal.

"i'm really glad we came."

as hae jung and i pulled up to her house this afternoon we asked each other with perplexed bemusement, "what just happened?" yeah... not really sure.

bottom line? caroline + berkeley + caroline's friends = amazing.
